A Santini Italian Alabaster Gladiator Sculpture 18" Tall Marble Base Made in Italy
Substantial vintage Italian alabaster sculpture of a Greco-Roman Gladiator / Warrior on a black marble plinth. Crisp carving, warm ivory tone. Marked “A. Santini – Made in Italy.” Excellent vintage condition. Approx 18 1/2" Tall. Base is 7" x 6". Weight: 11 lbs 10 oz.

(April 18, 1910 - January 15, 1975)
At the age of twelve Amilcare Santini became an apprentice to Joseph Colombini, who became a major influence in his career. Ninety percent of the work was done by hand, and he started off by using clay he found along the river. Amilcare Santini sculptures represent some of the most prestigious museum quality lines of sculptures in the world.
