Hand-knotted in wool, this 5x7contemporary rug by Rug & Kilim is a unique new approach to Moroccan rugs. Its design enjoys a field with a textural ribbing and salt-and-pepper look to it, inspired from boucherouite weaving styles and similar tribal techniques of the Middle Atlas.

On the Design:

Connoisseurs will admire the geometric patterns in rich brown tones in the center field that bear resemblance to primitivist Berber motifs, though admirers of the craft may also gleen a mid-century modern feel to the shapes. Keen eyes will note the subtle sense of movement in the underlying striae, and its natural complement to the sense of dimension the more graphic geometry enjoys atop. A contemporary approach plays a high-low texture with a ribbed look and feel loosely inspired by classic boucherouite weaving techniques.
