For tennis players, these in-between pauses are when thoughts flood in: self-talk, strategy, doubt, determination. The shadow cast beside the player becomes symbolic of that inner voice—always present, always shifting.
The textured, swirling strokes of the court reflect the mental noise we often wrestle with: Did I miss my chance? Can I recover? What’s next? As someone who returned to tennis with a new level of maturity, I’ve come to appreciate how universal those internal battles are.
