There’s a certain look dogs give—the kind that stops you in your tracks. It’s steady, soulful, and full of unspoken feeling. That gaze says everything: love, loyalty, curiosity, even a little mischief. I painted this to capture that universal moment of connection, the way our dogs see us and, somehow, understand us. This piece was inspired by my dog Mia, whose gaze had a tenderness I’ll never forget. She passed away six years ago, but her sweet presence lives on in this painting.
