This lovely piece, from an Italian art collector's estate sale, is by Serbian-born American artist Mark Sijan. His art depicts life-sized figures with intricate detail.
Sijan first creates a plaster mold from a live model, then further sculpts the details before firing the piece in poly resin. His work has been displayed in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Modern Art, and the Milwaukee Art Museum.
