Design Plus Gallery presents an Italian Wardrobe from the Mid 20th Century Attributed to Italian Designer Silvio Cavatorta. This piece, with its harmonious balance, represents a perfect example of functional furniture characterized by clean, sculptural lines. The three piece armoire consists of interconnected vertical sections resting on slender gold toned metal legs with brass tips. Made of Italian Birch wood, it features golden brown grain and smooth surfaces. The clean, essential lines combined with rounded forms perfectly reflect the modernist movement of the mid-20th century. The doors, finished smoothly with barely visible vertical grooves, are equipped with flush brass handles that add a touch of elegance and functionality. Two of the doors offer full length mirrors when opened. The left section offers shelving and five drawers while the remaining compartments offer hang storage. It shows visible wear that we consider to be consistent with its vintage age but overall in good condition. Does not come with key.
About the Designer :
Silvio Cavatorta, born in 1899, was the centerpiece of the design activities of the Roman company Cavatorta, particularly active in the years following World War II. He passed away in 1957. Cavatorta's production is distinguished by a minimalist style, the use of fine materials, and exceptional craftsmanship, creating functional luxury. His furniture is characterized by a sober design, high-quality materials, modular elements that combine aesthetics and functionality, smooth, linear surfaces free of superfluous ornamentation, and simple handles or those integrated directly into the wooden structures.
