Fully restored MP-93 three seater sofa by Percival Lafer, made in Brazil in the 1970s. The MP-93 offers cloud-like comfort with an upholstered seat that floats in a geometric sled-leg base. Exposed hardware connects the lateral stretcher bars to leg assemblies – a signature element of Lafer design.
This sofa, like the lounge chairs we acquired it with, was in need of a total overhaul. We disassembled the frames and reconstructed them joint by joint to ensure long term stability. The frames were refinished with neither stain nor toner, allowing the warm and variegated color of the jatoba wood shine through (the factory finish on this particular model was exceedingly dark, muting the woodgrain almost completely).
The straps are newly fashioned and the cushion has been reupholstered in a sparrow gray leather from Edelman.
The frame retains its Lafer foil seal proving authenticity.
We're delighted to present this rare and collectible Lafer sofa for sale for the first time since its original purchase in the 1970s.
