A gorgeous rustic Eastern European pine blanket chest with original deep green and brick red paint, likely from the Czech Republic and dating to the late 1800s. Decorative floral and leaf wreath motifs embellish the brick red medallions. Dovetail construction is evident at the corners. Old iron key escutcheon is intact but the lock is missing. The interior has ample storage and a candlebox. This is a strong, sturdy piece ready for many years of use. The box is finished with Fiddes Supreme Wax in Antique Brown and is buffed to a beautiful buttery glow. This is a sturdy box, ready for many years of use... at the foot of a bed, in a hallway or entryway, or as a coffee table.
