Aerni has worked since the 1970s and is known for refining wood-ash glazing techniques in upstate New York; his pieces have been exhibited widely and collected for their organic, painterly surfaces. This example, made c. 1990s in Aerni’s Rochester, NY studio, features the impressed artist’s mark on the base, a generous rounded body, and sculptural handle—equally striking as a display vessel or for seasonal branches.
