A stately 19th-century restrike (later impression) of portrait of Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690–1764), one of Britain’s most esteemed legal figures and the Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain. This was pulled from the original 18th-century mezzotint plate engraved by the celebrated artist, John Faber the Younger (c. 1695–1756). Print is inscribed with the definitive mark: J. Faber ad Vivum Fecit 1737 while the bottom inscription reads: The Right Hon. Philip Lord Hardwicke Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain.
The technique creates a distinguished, dark, and velvety texture, perfect for sophisticated antique interiors, studies, or gallery walls. The dark tones and rich detail make this a wonderful anchor piece for a traditional room, complementing dark woods, leather, and brass accents found in vintage home decor. Framed and matted. Ready to hang.
