The picture is an etching titled "Old Chicago Water Tower" by American artist S. Chester Danforth (1896-1059), known for his etchings of Chicago landmarks. Active in Illinois, a member of the National Academy of Design, he was known for graphic art, crafts, painting, and architecture.
The etching depicts the Chicago Water Tower, a historic landmark built in 1869, notable for being one of the few buildings to survive the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
This piece has been single family owned since at least mid-20th century. Reframed in about 1999.
Double-matted and framed under glass. Framed to about 15-in x 20-in. Picture is about 7-in x 12-in.
