Decorative blue-and-white metal sign from Japan, made around the late Shōwa period.
Dimensions: height 40 cm, width 45 cm, depth 0.1 cm.
The sign was used to indicate that a shop was licensed to sell officially approved rice (okome, おこめ). The Japanese text at the bottom — 知事許可販売店 — translates to “Store licensed by the governor.”
Condition: beautiful vintage condition, with minor wear consistent with age.
Printed on both sides and fitted with hanging holes, this sign features a striking blue color, minimalist design, and geometric logo — a bold graphic statement. A characterful wall piece that brings authenticity and Japanese vintage charm to any modern or industrial interior.
