Magnificent large stoneware pitcher by Jean-Claude Courjault, made at the Atelier La Cerisaie.
This unique piece perfectly illustrates Courjault's distinctive style: hand-engraved surface work adorned with stylized plant motifs and coated with a blue-gray, honey, and ochre glaze.
The slender shape, flared neck, and beautiful curved handle express the quest for balance between functionality and artistic expression characteristic of French stoneware from the 1970s.
