The vacant warehouses were used by artists and designers, particularly in New York's Soho district, as a hybrid of apartments, studios, and exhibition spaces. This was the origin of the "loft" as a form of living. Artists and designers found an affordable way to combine work and living. Due to modest budgets, infrastructure and objects were repurposed. For example, the workbench became the kitchen table, and the work lamp illuminated the living room. Born out of necessity at the time, industrial design furnishings enjoy great popularity today. However, the vast majority of tables and lamps have never seen the inside of a factory, and the naturally occurring signs of wear are completely absent. Our table shows clear signs of decades of use. Nothing is concealed—just unvarnished aesthetics. Instead of perfection, the focus is on the honesty of the material. The chrome-plated steel tabletop exhibits numerous scratches, stains, and slight dents. The silver-colored metal frame has some paint chipping and discoloration. Although the table is far from perfect, it doesn't look shabby and deserves a second life. It would be a great choice as a work or kitchen table. The table would also look great in an entryway, paired with a beautiful, large lamp. Length: 120 cm. See less
