This painting was inspired by George Catlin's "America Bison" Painting. I used the same colors that he did in his … Read more This painting was inspired by George Catlin's "America Bison" Painting. I used the same colors that he did in his work but I ended up glazing back over the whole thing, giving it a warmer pink sunset glow. I also wanted my version to be serious yet playful at the same time. So I included words describing the plight of our national mammal. I then added symbolic words describing the bison. And to give it a playful vide, there are flowers in the green grassy areas of the hill and little ones growing atop that hill. It is all done in acrylic and mixed media on stretched canvas. It comes with the sides painted bison brown and ready to hang. See less
