This rare Art Deco-era carving depicts a nude female figure in a moment of intimate gesture, her arms raised lifting a garment overhead. Executed in a single piece of rich, dark wood, the sculpture exhibits the refined stylization and naturalistic fluidity characteristic of Danish interwar art. The piece bears the documented signature "JE” of sculptor Niels Jakob Eriksen (also known as Jakob Eriksen). This particular sculpture was reproduced by Kurt Frindby in Denmark during the 30s. This is the original piece carved by Eriksen.
