Art Deco silver plated teapot attributed to Ilonka Karasz, c. 1928. A sculptural modernist design with vertical fluting, squared handle, and wooden finial and grip — a hallmark of late-1920s American Deco style.
Unmarked but consistent with Karasz’s work for Payne & Baker. In extremely good condition with original patina retained. No dents; a few micro flea-bites along the lid rim and faint scuffs on the body. The wooden handle shows light wear and mild varnish loss.
Comparable examples are published in Ashley Callahan, Enchanting Modern: Ilonka Karasz (1896–1981), Georgia Museum of Art (2003), p. 75 (see also pp. 7 & 75). A related Payne & Baker teapot resides in The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection.
