Striking pair of hand-painted papier-mache busts from India, rendered in classic Rajasthani folk style with bold features, jeweled details, and festive colors. Indian papier-mache has deep roots—refined in Kashmir in the 15th century under Persian influence and embraced across Rajasthan for decorative figures and puppetry. These contemporary examples are dated 2000 (see base) and were acquired from a private estate in North Carolina. Perfect for boho, maximalist, and global-eclectic interiors.
