Locus Solus is a series of outdoor furniture designed by architect Gae Aulenti in 1967, produced by Poltronova, Zanotta and later acquired by Exteta. The elements of the series are: four chairs/armchairs, a table and a bench. The collection is characterised by a strong liveliness thanks to the use of curves recreated by metal tubes and bold colours; these elements allude to a conceptual and aesthetic reference to the artistic current of pataphysics. Gae Aulenti's Locus Solus outdoor furniture series explores the expressive potential of colour applied to metal and fabric to create a fresh and relaxed environment. The geometry of the tubular steel structure with the application of colour becomes an element of great personality and has made Locus Solus an informal and lively icon of style.
