Coffey Casein Self-Portrait Painting, 2000. Black & white self-portrait in casein on handmade paper, showing head and shoulders, typical of Coffey's work. In a simple wood gallery frame with an Alpha Gallery, Boston label on the back. Gallery label identifies the artist, title and date, though the painting is unsigned. Coffey (American b. 1949) is best known for her paintings of heads - often self-portraits. From the Alpha Gallery website: "Coffey is a tenured professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she has taught since 1982. Her self-portraits, which have been her primary subject matter for many years, have evolved over time from examinations of guise and identity to "painterly situations" that strive for a "meaning that merges materiality with feeling."

Dimensions are 16 in h x 13 in w x 1.25 in d. Condition of the artwork is very good; the frame is good has some discoloration to the top and the back has some torn paper. See less
