Only the finest metal artists at the Hagenauer Vienna workshop were capable of creating a work from a single piece of metal. The initials of the artisan, Anton Oppawa, can be found on the plinth alongside the company's trademarks. This high internal recognition was only given to those pieces deemed particularly well-executed. The design for our head sculpture was available in various versions, for example, with a curl, and in various sizes, although our very reduced example is particularly rare.
