Striking 1960s Empoli-Style Art Glass Decanter Featuring a Sculptural Globe Stopper
A captivating hand-blown amber glass decanter from the mid-century era, distinguished by its globe stopper, seeded bubble glass style, and warm caramel tone—an ideal accent for a modern bar cart or glassware collection.
This mid-century hand-blown decanter embodies the sculptural elegance and organic character of Italian Empoli glass design from the 1960s–1970s. Rendered in richly hued amber glass, the vessel features beautifully controlled bubble inclusions (“bullicante”) throughout its rounded form—each capturing a whisper of light within.
The tall, tapered neck flares to a smooth, polished rim, creating an elegant silhouette that culminates in a dramatic spherical stopper. The oversized globe stopper, approximately 4 inches in diameter, fits snugly into the neck and echoes the decanter’s warm honeyed glow.
Whether displayed as a standalone art object or styled among other mid-century glass in a bar or credenza vignette, this piece adds sculptural dimension and vintage sophistication.
Hand-blown; unmarked. Attributed to Empoli (Italy), in the manner of Blenko or Wayne Husted for Blenko Glass Co., circa 1960s–early 1970s.

Expected surface variations and internal bubbles from the hand-blowing process add authenticity and charm. There is no stopper sleeve or seal on the peg of the globe stopper, however the weight and size of the stopper itself allow it to sit securely into neck of decanter. less
