Set of 7 lacquer cups and saucers, 1960s
Most likely turned wood, then lacquered black and hand-gilded. It's also possible that they're papier-mâché or a blend of plant fibers—typical of Asian wares.
They're very lightweight, so they resemble wood or papier-mâché rather than ceramic or metal.
Origin: Japan or Thailand (traditional floral patterns and decorative motifs) or Burma/Laos. In these regions, export lacquer sets made of wood or papier-mâché and hand-gilded were popular from the 1960s to the 1980s.

Oriental, decorative—Asian lacquer with gilding.
