Hans anliker mid-century dining chairs for horgen glarus, 1962
an exceptional collection of 29 dining chairs designed in 1962 by swiss architect hans anliker and produced by horgen glarus, switzerland’s oldest and most prestigious furniture manufacturer. Rarely available in such large quantity, these chairs present a unique opportunity for both private collectors and large-scale interior projects.
the chairs feature a leaf-shaped bentwood seat and backrest, ergonomically curved for comfort. The pyramidal rear legs provide both structural stability and a bold architectural silhouette, making the design equally engaging from the front, side, and back. Crafted in solid wood and bentwood, each chair displays a warm patina that enhances its authentic mid-century character. All chairs are in good vintage condition, structurally sound, with age-appropriate wear consistent with six decades of use. Minor scuffs, particularly at the lower legs, reflect their history without compromising stability or function. Thanks to their timeless design and durability, these chairs are ideal for a wide range of interiors — from dining rooms and studios to restaurants, cafés, or boutique hotels requiring multiple matching pieces. Their strong visual presence ensures they stand as both functional seating and sculptural design objects.
