The invention of covering the cherub's nudity with a cloth held by a shoulder strap rope is elegant, and the anatomy is well-structured. The cherub rests on a faux rocky ground that refers to the Roman Baroque style. The carving, probably of northern origin, can be dated to around the mid-eighteenth century. The height of the work is 72cm. We attach a certificate of authenticity to the sale. See less
