A large political and transport globe published by Dietrich Reimer (Ernst Vohsen) A.-G. in Berlin, circa mid-20th century. Made on a scale of 1:38,000,000, it shows the political division of the world with roads, railways, distances in nautical miles, as well as markings for the League of Nations and colonies.
The globe is mounted on a solid, turned wooden base with space for a compass. The sphere is supported by a brass crescent-shaped frame with a scale. The design allows both the sphere itself to rotate relative to the frame and the frame to rotate relative to the axis, making the object extremely functional. German geographical names and classic cartographic colours give the globe the value of a document of its era.
Good condition — with minor surface abrasions that do not diminish its collector's value.
