Sunrise heats morning skies and reflects in harbor waters. Sailboats and skiffs are in dark shadow, providing sharp contrast to brilliantly lit sky and sea.

We love this painting; it is impressive. Executed on a 36" x 48" canvas and measuring 42" x 54" including traditional frame, the painting details a vivid sky, reflective waters and an emerging sun. Boats in the water are only supporting characters in the early morning drama.

Notice that the boats are rendered in a series of very dark blues. As seen here on the easel--on the studio wall--and in the living room, the boats read as inky-blue/black against the contrasting "hot" colors of sky and sea.

This work is PAINTERLY--obvious and detailed brushwork, thick use of oil paint, sometimes cresting off the canvas. The composition expert.
