This gorgeous, vibrant and large-scale Mid-Century Modern oil painting of Venice is captivating. Executed with a palette knife, the work features a thick, sculptural impasto texture that creates a dynamic sense of energy and movement. The iconic view across the Grand Canal toward the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute is rendered in a bold, expressive style with brilliant pops of color in the boat sails and gold leaf in the sky and water. Signed "L. Lefevre" in the lower right, this piece is a superb example of post-war European decorative art, perfect for anchoring a living room, dining room, or office. The painting is in excellent vintage condition and comes in its original or period-appropriate dark wood frame.
