Vintage black lacquered Chinoiserie display cabinet / bookcase features hand painted landscape designs with exotic colorful birds, flowers, stylized figures, … Read more Vintage black lacquered Chinoiserie display cabinet / bookcase features hand painted landscape designs with exotic colorful birds, flowers, stylized figures, bridges, and pagodas all accented in gold. This extraordinary perfectly-sized piece was originally sold by Marshall Fields in Chicago in the mid 20th century. The interior back has been painted a coral /salmon pink (in the last 10 years) The three glass doors open to glass shelves, held up by newer metal hardware. The bottom cabinets offer great storage, while the center one has one solid wood shelf. The original lighting is still installed in all three sections, but I’ve never used it. You’d need to look up into the cabinet to see it, since it’s hidden from view. See less

Minor wear includes: handful of minor chips in lacquer finish, a missing black with gold narrow molding on the right glass door (not that noticeable; see photo — pictured with a small gauge/repair too). The original lighting (as stated above) is still installed with cord hanging from back. I don’t know if it still works or just needs bulb replacement. As with all vintage wiring, we recommend consulting an electrician. All glass shelves in tact with new metal hanging hardware. less
