This piece dates to the late 1960s or early 70s, created in his own studio apart from his better-known Earthgender collaboration with David Cressey. Features Maxwell’s signature vertical-oval relief motif, carved into a raw, iron-rich clay body. Sculptural yet functional, with a single drainage hole.
Excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
Dimensions:
• Diameter: 8.25"
• Height: 5.5"
Maxwell was a key figure in the postwar West Coast ceramics movement, working alongside names like Stan Bitters and Cressey. A solid fit for Brutalist, Organic Modern, or MCM interiors.
