Interestingly, it stands as an homage to the now defunct Arlington International Race Track.
Arlington International--the site of the first thoroughbred horse race to offer a million-dollar purse--opened its doors in 1927. This painting was conceived immediately before its close in 2021. As of today the race course and its 35,000 seat stadium have been completely demolished and sold to the Chicago Bears. "Da Bears" has reportedly confirmed that it will build its new football home on this site.
"Here They Come!: is a very large painting, executed on a 36" x 72" canvas, measuring a full 46" x 82" including frame. It is painted in the post impressionist, expressionist style--figures conveying great focus and intensity.
