In this eye-catching monotype, a performer stands on a stage, lit by a beam of light with one hand raised above her. The lifted hand and planted feet of the performer create an air of steadiness while her curved posture shows that she is ready to spring into movement. Behind the performer, the audience is reduced to a mix of circles and brushstrokes, also bathed in the stage light. The performer stands on a yellow foreground, contrasting with the deep blues and blacks of the unlit areas. A variety of different strokes and marks are visible on this monotype creating a range of visual interest.

Linda O’Hagan (b. circa 1955) is a contemporary artist working in the Monterey Bay area in California. O’Hagan has a long history of involvement in the local art scene, from creating an art piece for the Santa Cruz County building in 1977 to participating in Aptos, California’s Two Hat Studio’s “Print Day in May” in 2017. In 2004, she was spotlighted by the Santa Cruz Sentinel for her work focusing on her experience with epilepsy, alongside Christi Voenell, to assist the recovery of those suffering from head trauma with art. She has also taught classes at the Santa Cruz Art Center alongside professors from the University of California Santa Cruz. See less
