A fine American quilt of satin patchwork executed in the Flying Geese pattern circa late 19th to early 20th century. The main portion of the quilt consists of five columns of orange and blue (with subtle stripes) triangles alternate with four solid blue bars. The skirt consists of large blue and jade green triangle, echoing the center pattern cohesively. The quilt has a think cotton core pad and is backed by a light orange color satin, with pierced stitches over the entire surface. The design is geometrically bold, and the color contrast is striking. The satin fabric also gives the textile a shimmering effect that sets it aside from the quilts more commonly made from cotton or wool. The textile, although Americana in nature, appears unexpectedly modern and will make a great statement wall tapestry for any interior.
When fully open and extended, the quilt measures 103" w x 103" h overall. It was made for a full-size bed, with the main portion being approximately 53" w and 78" h. The surrounding skirt is 25"w.
