The colors … Read more These magnificent pair of lamps or lanterns, circa 1950, make a dramatic statement either illuminated or not lighted. The colors of the semiprecious gemstone and stones include rose tones, greens, rust. jade. lavender, and grey. They have a mosaic quality and have a substantial lantern shape with a loose rounded dome top. This unique pair of lights can be used indoors or, in a temperate climate, outdoors . Although easy enough to do, I have not updated the wiring. Your choice of location, either indoors or outdoors, will dictate the type of rewiring required to safely electrify the lanterns. My father was a merchant marine and a collector. For 40 years he traveled the world on ships returning with wonderful treasures like these lights. I believe he brought these from Brazil. See less

They are in very good condition. They are hand made; a mosaic in stone and minerals .Because of the application of natural semi-precious stones and minerals they are not symmetrical. No loose stones and sit very stable on a table. Each lantern has a dome tops that fits comfortable on the piece. They light up as shown in photos, but should be rewire to update and fit the placement, indoors or outdoors.
