An exceptional wood carving wall art of a North American Indian morphing into an Eagle that is standing on a ceremonial smoking pipe, done by Wilfred Swampy / Sagkeeng First Nation. Signed and dated on reverse.
Wilfred Swampy was an Indigenous Canadian carver from the Sagkeeng First Nation in Manitoba. He was a member of the Sagkeeng Carvers, a group of 12 artists active in the late 1970s and early 1980s who produced and sold hundreds of wood carvings around the world. His known work includes the carving Three Chiefs.
