Volcano glass sculpture by Alfredo Barbini, Murano, 1960s. Sometimes referred to as Vulcano. Signed "A. Barbini" on the base (see photo). Measurements: Height 42 cm with base and 35 cm excluding base, width 20 cm, depth 11 cm. This sculpture by Alfredo Barbini is one of the most beautiful volcanoes I've ever seen. These blown glass craters are set in a thick glass plate with a slightly wavy surface.
The object has defects on the base, highlighted in the photos, but these do not affect the glass sculpture sitting on the base, which is in excellent condition. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
