Woven primarily from the mid-19th to early 20th century, they represent a sophisticated blend of tribal and classical Persian weaving traditions, prized for their artistic freedom, dense knotting, and enduring appeal. While most examples use a wool pile on a cotton foundation, silk versions—though rarer—exist, often featuring silk highlights in the pile or foundation for added sheen and fineness. These silk-accented pieces were typically reserved for elite commissions, emphasizing the rugs’ luxurious potential. I must bring to your attention that Silk Ferahan Sarouks come once in a blue moon. As I said at the above, Silk Ferahans were made for special commissions & just made in mumbers. As far as the condition goes, it does show some low pile and wear but foundation is solid and it does not crack at all. Please, refer to close ups. This is a genuine Persian rug. See less
