His sophisticated bronze bust, dated 1907, depicts the ancient Greek poetess Sappho (620 B.C. - 550 B.C.), known for her lyrical poetry. Crafted in dark patinated bronze with scagliola eyes, the bust is a faithful reproduction of the original found in the Villa of the Papyri, Herculaneum, Italy, dating back to the 1st century B.C.
