This volume contains the four novels that make the collection "FOUR FANTASTIC TALES" by renowned author Hugh Walpole (some of Walpole's stories were parts of series with related themes).
The novels
The Prelude to Adventure
Maradick at Forty
Portrait of a Man with Red Hair
Above the Dark Tumult
Hugh Walpole, better known for his famous "The Herries Chronicle", was a member of the Britain Literary Royalty, a protégé of authors of the caliber of Henry James and Arnold Bennett, and his novels are still highly appreciated.
Ernest Hemingway wrote into a short story a comparison of G K Chesterton and Walpole, concluding that the former was the better man, the latter a better writer and both were classics.
