"The Otterbury Incident" is a 1948 children's novel by Cecil Day-Lewis, adapted from a 1941 French screenplay, that was reissued in 1966 by Bodley Head and The World Publishing Company, featuring illustrations by Edward Ardizzone. The story, told from the perspective of a young schoolboy, follows a group of post-war English schoolboys who uncover a crime after a football breaks a classroom window, leading them to become detectives.
