This is a gorgeous Seltmann Weiden Christina Porcelain coffee or tea pot in "Dresden Classic" blue rose pattern. The elegant curves on the handle are beautifully constructed, as is the rose atop the lid. I have been unable to find a similar coffee/tea pot online. This "Dresden Classic" Christina blue rose pattern includes other dishware that can be found online, such as plates, cups, creamers, a gravy dish, a flower vase, etc. This coffee/tea pot probably dates from the 1980s since it shows "W. Germany" on the backstamp, and the Berlin Wall fell at the end of 1989.
The pattern is called "Dresden Classic" or referred to as "Blue Rose". Similar blue and white patterns by other china manufacturers include "Blue Danube" and "Blue Onion". The general pattern was interpreted by many European manufacturers from ancient Chinese porcelain ware dating back to the Yuan Dynasty (13th and 14th centuries). That's why you will see so many different names and variations of this blue and white pattern.
Seltmann in Weiden, Bavaria, Germany has been well known for its quality porcelain since its founding in 1910, and this family-owned porcelain factory has committed to maintaining production in Bavaria to this day.
This coffee/tea pot is in excellent condition, with no chips, fleabites, cracks, marks, or scratches. The white china and glaze are vibrant and glossy. It looks like new except the inside of the pot (which is fully glazed) might have some light coffee staining - it's difficult to tell if the interior of the pot is supposed to be a slightly less vibrant white from the outside.
Approximate measurements: 10.25" high, 8.5" wide at handle and spout, 5.5" diameter at widest point.
