A vintage 3x4 Persian Gabbeh rug, from a grand new entry in Rug & Kilim’s curation of rare tribal pieces. Hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
The piece enjoys a most unusual marriage of tribal geometric border and a whimsical polychromatic field with stripes. Connoisseurs will admire how collectible such playful multicolor works of this intricacy are, even for this notable provenance.
Furthermore this tribal origin is one of the most primitive, and collectible shabby-chic styles in nomadic rugs. Exceptional Gabbehs like this creation are known for thick, lush pile, vibrant warm colors and archaic geometric patterns. An exemplar of rustic charm and folk art as much as handmade rugs, with versatile size and vast design applications.
In good condition with mild wear, consistent with age.
