He is recognized for his figurative style, with a body of work that includes still lifes, landscapes, and scenes of daily life, often marked by sensitivity and balance. He moved to Geneva in 1919, where he became deeply involved in the local art scene. In 1941, he was appointed professor of composition at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, influencing a generation of Swiss artists. Between 1951 and 1956, he served as a member of the Swiss Federal Commission of Fine Arts. In 1968, the City of Geneva honored his contributions to Swiss art by organizing a major retrospective, 30 Years of Painting, at the Musée Rath. This exhibition reaffirmed his importance in the mid-20th-century Swiss art landscape. His works are part of several public and private collections and continue to appear in galleries and auctions.
