This piece parallels Abstract Expressionist work from the New York School active during the same period. Both are signed on the back "Goldberg, 1969, NY, NY." The abstract pieces feature multi-layered, multi-textured streaks of deep purple, lavender, and metallic silver on canvas. The painter sneaks little instances of pink, yellow, and even green -- adding visual variety. Goldberg was free with his application of paint. The majority of the image was created by pouring paint. In other passages evidence of knife painting is clear. The larger horizontal painting is housed its original wood frame. The smaller vertical painting has a new black frame.
