These … Read more This is a rare 19th century Victorian-style conversational settee, upholstered in rich red velvet with exquisite carved wood details. These types of two-seater “tête-à-tête” sofas were designed to bring people together, allowing for intimate conversation while showcasing craftsmanship and elegance.

The frame features ornate carvings, including cross-shaped motifs with floral centers on the back of each seat, as well as three longer carved panels running parallel to the armrests. These carved elements are removable, which makes them easier to clean and dust; they could be glued in place if desired, though we’ve left them loose for practical maintenance.

The settee appears to have been refurbished at some point, as indicated by the label on the underside. Despite its age, it remains in outstanding condition, with only minor blemishes and alterations acquired throughout its long history—marks that serve as a testament to its graceful patina. Please note, this is a lower-sitting sofa, so be sure to review the measurements below.
