This Machine-Age, Art Deco full-sized bed frame was designed by Paul Goldman and manufactured by his company, Plymold Corporation, circa 1945. The frame includes 4 pieces; a bent walnut ply headboard and footboard with notched edge detail and 2 walnut side rails that assemble easily without additional hardware. This rare Paul Goldman bedframe is an excellent example of the Machine-Age period typified by streamlined fluid lines and rounded contours.
Paul Goldman ran the Plymold Corporation outside of Boston in Lawrence, Massachusetts. After supplying the military with bentwood products during the war years, he parlayed the company's advanced molded plywood technology into the commercial market. His line was called "Plymodern Furniture." Production continued until the 1970s.
The matching pair of Goldman nightstands are listed separately.
