Elegant Japanese hanakago (flower basket) from the 1960s, handwoven from natural bamboo. The basket comes with its original cylindrical water container (otoshi), crafted from chestnut-brown lacquered bamboo, designed for ikebana flower arrangements.
Dimensions: height 36 cm, width 23 cm, depth 21 cm
The form features a graceful, gently curved silhouette that widens towards the base and narrows at the opening. The sturdy bamboo handle harmonizes beautifully with the rhythmic weave, where diagonal accents are subtly combined with tightly woven sections.
Exuding both simplicity and refinement, this piece exemplifies the Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetic, where natural materials and craftsmanship converge.
The hanakago is in very good condition, with only minimal signs of use. A functional vessel for ikebana arrangements, it also serves as a striking decorative piece that brings a serene Japanese atmosphere to any interior.
