This antique french butter churn dates from the early 20th century and represents a remarkable example of rural craftsmanship and utilitarian design. Once a central tool in farmhouse kitchens, it was used to transform cream into butter through a hand-crank mechanism with interior paddles.
the piece is constructed from chestnut and poplar wood, featuring a hinged lid, a solid wooden frame, and iron fittings. The side-mounted crank remains intact and functional, and the surface shows an attractive patina consistent with decades of use.
more than a dairy implement, this churn is also considered a meuble de métier (professional furniture), offering both historical authenticity and decorative appeal.
