He stayed … Read more Born Jakub Brojdo in Ekaterinoslav, Poland; Brojdo emigrated to Chicago in 1937 in advance of the German invasion. He stayed with his uncle while attending the Arts Institute of Chicago, earning an MFA. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a multilingual interpreter on General George S. Patton's staff. After he was discharged in 1947, the design world would soon know Jakub Brojdo as his signature name, "Georges Briard".

This low profile Georges Briard wood table features a rare color combination among the tables that still exist. Charcoal grey grout borders hug crinkled metallic of Jell-O green, burnt orange, citron yellow and dark purple glass. If it didn't have legs, it could easily be a vibrant piece of mid century modern wall art.
