This is an original 1865 pencil and charcoal drawing by G. Vaccaro, signed and dated in the lower right corner. The artwork depicts a seated woman in traditional attire, rendered with fine detail and expressive shading. Dressed in a flowing gown with puffed sleeves and a bonnet, the figure exudes quiet dignity and strength. In the foreground sits a simple bowl of gathered produce, a symbolic element often associated with sustenance, home, and everyday life.
Executed with masterful use of line and shadow, the drawing highlights the artist’s classical technique and sensitivity to form. The strong contours and soft gradations of shading create a timeless composition that blends realism with subtle impressionistic qualities.
This large antique pencil sketch by G. Vaccaro would appeal to collectors of mid-19th century figurative art, traditional portrait drawings, and works celebrating rural or historical themes. It is a fine example of 19th-century European draughtsmanship, ideal for display in a home, gallery, or a private collection.
